Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in human brains and the fact that different individuals have different ways of thinking and processing information. Neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism, ADHD, or dyslexia, have unique perspectives and strengths that can benefit organizations in many ways. For example, neurodivergent individuals tend to be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled at pattern recognition, which can be valuable in fields such as data analysis, software development, and quality assurance, etc.

Research shows that actively supporting neurodivergent employees can have a positive impact on the bottom line and DE&I efforts. According to a report by the National Autistic Society, only 16% of autistic adults in the UK are in full-time paid employment, despite the fact that 77% want to work. Studies have shown when neurodivergent individuals are employed, they tend to be highly productive and reliable. A study by the Harvard Business Review found that teams with neurodiverse members outperformed non-neurodiverse teams in problem-solving tasks by an average of 58%. Moreover, neurodivergent employees tend to have higher job satisfaction and lower turnover rates than their neurotypical peers when provided with appropriate accommodations and support, as per a study by the University of California, San Francisco.
